Secure technology recovery

Responsible reuse starts with device-specific data handling.

Retired business technology is evaluated individually. Depending on condition, configuration, data-storage capability, and practical value, equipment may be restored, upgraded, parted out for usable components, transferred through controlled resale channels, recycled, or otherwise processed responsibly.

Data handled first

Computers, servers, storage devices, network appliances, and other equipment are reviewed for internal or removable storage. Applicable wiping, reset, removal, or destruction steps are applied before reuse or downstream transfer.

Restore or upgrade

Usable devices may receive cleaning, testing, basic repairs, replacement storage, memory, power components, or other practical upgrades when those steps support reliable continued use.

Component recovery

Equipment that is not practical to restore as a complete unit may be carefully disassembled so serviceable parts can support repairs, upgrades, or other approved reuse pathways.

Responsible final disposition

Items that cannot be safely or economically reused may be routed toward recycling or other appropriate downstream processing instead of being forced into a resale pathway.

Why this approach matters

Value recovery should never come before data protection.

A retired device can still contain business records, customer information, credentials, configuration data, or embedded storage. Red Ridge Solutions evaluates both the technology and the data risk before selecting a downstream path.

Examples of equipment that may require special handling

Desktop and laptop computers, servers, NAS and SAN equipment, firewalls, routers, switches with saved configurations, security recorders, mobile devices, printers with internal storage, and removable drives may each require different review and processing steps.
